Veskovia was one of the few remaining North Fereinite nations that survived the Amaranthine Reaping. It managed to stand for many, many years, successfully withstanding the Demon Wars with minimal outside help. However, in 296 DHT, the waters surrounding Veskovia’s capital city of Talczelava were contaminated by a small population of fish that had migrated from the Bloodcoast Sea. Fishermen and other salty folk were the first to consume these infected fish, and slowly they mutated into manikins. Over the course of 24 hours, a massive manikin outbreak would occur, ravaging the city and its population. The royal Veskovian Sedlasky family sent word out to the Arcane Hand for aid, but by the time the Hand’s personnel arrived in Veskovian lands, it was too late—the capital city was thoroughly overrun. The royal family was lost within the city, and the Veskovian kingdom collapsed in response to the central government’s sudden end. This event was known as “the Unbirthing”.

The Arcane Hand and Bureau of Classified Arcana were never able to glean that The Unbirthing was caused by infected fish. A few records claim that the first several outbreaks of manikinism happened near the docks, but that was the closest anyone got to the truth.

By 300 DHT, Veskovia’s remaining cities were occupied by the Legion of Thunder under the guise of keeping the peace.

Capital

The capital city of Veskovia was Talczelava.

Ethnic Groups

Veskovia was primarily comprised of Humans.

Veskovian

The unique appearance of the Veskovian people turned heads whenever they weren’t in their homeland. Veskovians were average-sized humans with pale, blue-tinged skin and grey to white hair. A constant cloud cover found over their homeland of Veskovia meant they were extremely sensitive to sunlight, easily sunburning if proper precautions weren’t taken.

Veskovians had grey to bluish-grey eyes.

Trade

Veskovia was a well known exporter of dairy products and liquor, supplying Phovezila, Corgath, the Cloudlands and The Eastern Provinces with fine cheese and alcohol. Veskovia had a poor relationship with the kingdom of Jinifar prior to its collapse, mostly due to Jinifarian pirates often raiding Veskovian merchant vessels, which Jinifar authorities did very little to help prevent.

Climate

Veskovia was infamous for its poor weather-the borders of the kingdom were along the Vieka Mountain Range, causing rainfall and cloudy days in Veskovian lands to be frequent. Many of Veskovia’s cities required state-of-the-art storm drains to avoid flooding.

Language

Ilyene

Ilyene was the language spoken by the kingdom of Veskovia. It was rarely spoken outside of the kingdom’s borders.

The Myth of Ilyana

Veskovian legends speak of the fair Princess Ilyana, who created the Veskovian language as a gift to the people she cared deeply about. There were no official records of Ilyana being a real ancestor of Veskovian royalty, but majority of the Veskovian people treated her tale as non-fiction.
