The serberkers were a class of warriors used by the Cuprum Kingdom in the far North of Hohm. They fought against monsters and other nations to protect their people and attempt to expand the Cuprum territories.
Serberkers were highly honour-bound contrary to popular belief. While most foreigners saw them as savage barbarians, serberkers were highly educated individuals who lived by a code, almost to the same level of zeal found in a paladin of the Righteous Order. They lived to defend their people, dedicated to this task even if it meant their own demise.
Regalia & Heraldry
The four different flags representing the four different orders of serberkers. Each flag displayed the Dawn Knot in emerald green to represent how each of the orders were ultimately bound to the greater Cuprum Kingdom.
Nomadic Serberkers
After the fall of the Cuprum Kingdom following The Calamity, Serberkers shifted their focus into becoming monster hunters, combating the carnite horrors that spawned in the Festerplains and other otherworldly nightmares that crawled out from the depths of The Nether Fountain.
Serberkers also helped to provide for their people by acting as guides for foreigners looking to research the Festerplains and Nether Fountain, and by selling anti-magical carnite bones to sailing traders. Such mutant creatures not only looked bizarre and hence made interesting wall hangers. Others wanted them for their anti-magical properties.
Serberker Orders
Serberkers were comprised of 4 divisions (referred to as Orders): The Order of Tankwill, the Order of Castlearm, the Order of Hornetmind, and the Order of Swordeye.
Castlearm
The flag of Castlearm, featuring crossed spears over a Cuprum fortress.
The Castlearmed serberkers were spear-throwing experts, who typically followed behind the Tankwilled into battle. They would hurl spears as they ran to continually soften up enemy forces from range.
While throwing spears and javelins were the iconic fighting style of Castlearmed forces, many of them took to using throwing axes instead.
Hornetmind
The Hornetmind flag features a large vespid creature over a dark rose background.
The Hornetmind Order served as strategic specialists for serberker armies. They were primarily mounted on horseback and relayed important battlefield information to and from commanders as a skirmish unfolded.
Swordeye
Swordeye's flag featured the Cuprum-style double-edged sword boldly pointed forward.
The largest of the serberker divisions was the Order of Swordeye, which trained hardy, disciplined soldiers equipped with the standard fare of Cuprum weaponry, including spears, axes, swords, shields, and bows.
Swordeyed serberkers made up the backbone of Cuprum armies. Depending on the engagement, Swordeye troops would be mounted on horseback to engage in cavalry charges.
Tankwill
Tankwill's flag featured dual bearded axes crossed over a round shield emblazoned with the Dawn Knot.
The Tankwill Order was for serberker shock troops, elite warriors who trained themselves to estrange themselves from fear and pain. They would charge into battle to break enemy lines and sow chaos, allowing the other orders to strike with more precision.
