An extremely magical creature native to the ashen landscape surrounding Mount Ferrum and Mount Spire. Obsidian Scorpions were made completely of inorganic material; they were naturally occurring golems.
Instead of blood or internal organs, obsidian scorpions were filled with molten lava, which was the most obvious testament to their magical nature. The molten innards of obsidian scorpions also served as an excellent defensive mechanism. Injuries would cause this bubbling liquid rock to spew forth. This magmatic blood also doubled as its venom, with obsidian scorpions able to inject or project lava from their tails.
The arcane lava within obsidian scorpions allowed them to regenerate from small wounds easily, with outer layers hardening into rock within seconds of injury. Killing an obsidian scorpion was no easy task.
Obsidian scorpions were aggressive and territorial creatures. While their magical nature allowed them to breed, live, and otherwise survive without needing much in terms of resources, obsidian scorpions relentlessly hunted creatures that trespassed their territories.
Obsidian Scorpions could also hide themselves by blending into the surrounding volcanic terrain, helping them to ambush whatever they were hunting, as well as avoid their main natural predator: the phoenix.
Obsidian Scorpions had a very wide range of sizes, spanning from 1 meter to 20 meters long.
