Crocotta
A large-sized, predatory canine with extreme intelligence. Crocotta were specially adapted to hunting Humans. They acheived this by mimicking sounds that a person would make. This included crying, single words, and sometimes even short phrases. A crocotta would also have a long mane that they could use to disguise themselves as long-haired women from behind.
Armoured Fur #
Crocotta hide was extremely resilient to edged weapons due to a combination of thick epidermis and a unique interweaving of metal fibers in their fur. This acted as a pseudo-chainmail. These metal fibers were easily dislodged from follicles, meaning other animals that brushed against the fur could receive metal splinters--do not pet!
Habitat #
Crocottas were often found on the outskirts of towns, within forests. They were especially present along the Northern bank of the Modwuk River. They originated from further south, usually found by watering holes in the Endalan Savannah surrounding the Con Tuan.
The increase in droughts in the area as a result of the rise of The Pharaoh drove the predators further north into Phovezila.
