terrorite
A deadly, man-size species of Carnite found in the Bloodcoast Sea. Its upper body consisted of a mess of stinging tentacles, while its midsection displayed a fearsome toothy maw. Its bottom portion was like that of a slug, although it could slither at a lightning pace.
Terrorites appeared to have descended from mutated sea anemone exposed to the foul waters surrounding the Festerplains. They lurked on the bottom of the sea floor, lying motionless in reefs for hours on end… until suddenly they would lurch forward, catching their prey in their tentacles! The terrorite would inject a sedative-like substance, causing its prey to become motionless and drowsy, easing the handling of its food. It would guide the sluggish prey into its mouth where it would bite it into chunks, digesting it piece by piece until it burped out any bones in satisfaction.
Terrorites were often quite happy hunting at the bottom of the ocean, but crept up along the northwest shores of Icthy’s Rest or Gong on several occasions. They were significantly slower on land, making them pretty easy for prepared, gruff, seasoned sailors and pirates to skewer them on the spot. Terrorites still possessed a significant threat to those who weren’t prepared or were taken by surprise.
