Angels

Angels were transcendent entities that served their king, The Creator, by traversing the multiverse and enacting His will. Their natural forms existed outside of the reality of all universes, and they were comprehended as abstract, nonsensical amalgams of organs, eyes, and precious metals and stones. They were both beautiful and terrifying.

Angels typically assumed humanoid facades while in the universe of Legere to become more personable and approachable, especially when serving alongside mortals (like in the Demon Wars).

Angels were incredibly powerful, physically stronger than any mortal being could hope to achieve while also wielding the spark of divinity. This divine power usually manifested as a luminous cyan halo overtop their heads.

In humanoid form, angels appeared as androgynous, athletic figures of tall stature. Their hair and skin were unnatural pastel colours, and their eyes' pupils glowed with a piercing blue light. Angels wore white robes and golden Trinitum armour that could never be stained or tarnished. This equipment was so clean that they looked like they were glowing and were often hard to continually look upon (especially in the daytime). Angels had a pair of wings with pure white feathers that protruded from their back. Although flight was as easy as walking for an angel, these wings were unnecessary to fly with. Angels typically used them as shields or extra limbs, providing cover to others while batting away Imps or Demons. Their wings' feathers were typically gilded with torchlite to grant them a gleaming appearance and greater strength.

Angels were timeless, immortal creatures. They did not age, nor could they be lost to the oblivion of death. While it was hypothetically possible to slay the physical form of an angel, no such feat has ever transpired since the beginning of the multiverse. That being said, a slain angel would be able to reform after a time period of approximately 1000 Legerian years.

Angel Legions #

Cherubim #

The cherubim were ranged specialists and guards of The Creator Himself. Whenever major demon invasion was transpiring, cherubim would secure the borders of the world's null-film.

Although not seen on Legere during the Demon Wars, cherubim were involved with the conflict but in the wide reaches of space around the planet.

Memitim #

The memitim were rare and lower ranking Angels that served their king specifically by fighting mortals who were wicked or had attempted to illegitimately escape the finality of death. They were also known as the destroying angels, reapers, angels of death, and executioner angels. With their weapons, they could confine the soul of a mortal to oblivion, denying them the ability to be resurrected by any means.

There were only a small handful of memitim, since their quarry were mortals and not other supernatural combatants, like Demons. A single memitim was sufficient to deal death on an entire singular world.

No memitim fought on Legere during, before, or after the Demon Wars, save for Azrael who was summoned to Legere by the Dark Heroes.

Unlike the other angel legions, memitim were bloodthirsty and violent, created to serve their Creator by swiftly destroying those they were loosed upon. They often needed to be reigned in by Seraphim once their work was complete. They were closer to neutrality compared to other angels, behaving more like forces of nature rather than distinct persons. A memitim was easily identified by the red eyes and bloody wings which they acquired from their years of service as slayers of mortals.

Ophanim #

The ophanim were cavalry and what some Legerian scholars would describe as engineers. They were involved with the designing and construction of The Ancients on Core. They were not heavily involved with the Demon Wars, but did make some minor appearances.

Ophanim could conjure golden mechanical chariots in battle, while could roll across the sky, sea, or land while crushing evil foes underneath it.

Seraphim #

The seraphim were the most elite angelic warriors, and wielded holy flame. They made widescale appearances across Legere during the Demon Wars, leading them to be the most well known angelic forces in the following years.

Seraphim were characterized by wielding weapons that perpetually burned with blue, almost white-hot flame.

Other Legions #

There were countless other angelic legions, each specialized in their own way. However, only the above three legions were involved with Legerian history to some extent.

The Archangels

There were seven archangels, which were special angels that served as messengers between the mortal denizens of a dimension and The Creator. Each archangel was responsible for being the divine emissary of several higher dimensions.

Michael was the archangel of both Core and Legere, among other worlds. Although the identities of the other archangels remained unknown to Legerian scholars, records of Michael's words suggest that the jurisdiction of a realm above other realms called the Base Dimension was under the jurisdiction of an angel named Gabriel. ^0761cc
