Vulcanis

Vulcanis was a relatively large settlement found in between Mount Spire and Mount Ferrum. It was founded shortly after the Ancient Wars by a group of Phovezilan separatists who united under an ex-elemental warrior who went by the name of Isandier von Vulcanis.

Secret City #

Vulcanis had survived within the volcanic wastes as a partially underground city safe from the eyes of Phovezila, which was unaware of its existence. No taxes or other obligations have to be paid to Phovezila as long as its existence remained mysterious enough. However, as time progressed, Vulcanis' secrecy slowly spiraled out of control, and it suffered its final nail in the coffin when the Archangel's Heroes encountered it in 336 DHT.

A magical relay within the city helped to protect it from the volcanic environment by repelling ash, pyroclastic flow, scorching heat, and noxious chemical fumes. The relay also provided an illusory field that encapsulated the city, making it effectively invisible from the outside.

Built on Blood #

Vulcanis leaned heavily into the bloodsports business, which was a major factor in the circulation of knowledge of its existence. The Vulcanis arena was a driving economic powerhouse for the city, with hundreds of shady mercenaries and bloodthirsty Lancers braving ashen wastes just to get in on the business.

Connected to the Undeground #

Vulcanis, being partially underground, was connected to caverns that lead towards the greater territories of the subterranean naga, which allowed them to do trade for supplies with minimal contact with the outside world.

Destruction #

Vulcanis was destroyed in 336 DHT after the Archangel's Heroes were lured there by agents of the Legion of Thunder. The baron of Vulcanis at that time, Buntord von Vulcanis, was promised the capture of the legendary figures and sought to put on a spectacular show within the confines of the city's impressive arena.

During the event, the Archangel's Heroes managed to escape their confines and wreak havoc across the arena's grounds. In the process, the baron was betrayed and left for dead by the Legion of Thunder, and the entire city crumbled as the magic that protected it from the harsh environment waned.
