Yellow Matriarch
A giant, slow-shambling spider found in the grasslands just east of Destral. These lumbering, skyscraper-sized arachnids housed a swarm of their own children within their innards, which the yellow matriarch controlled using pheromones. The yellow matriarch’s “minions” were sent out to hunt nearby prey, using sheer numbers to overwhelm victims and tear its flesh into tiny chunks. These morsels of the prey’s flesh were then transported back to the yellow matriarch, which digested the biomass and distributed it accordingly to its children.
The yellow matriarch acted like a biological troop carrier transport, complete with a fearsome attack squadron. Large cavernous vessels ran throughout the creature's internals, granting space for its attack offspring to hibernate it.
Yellow matriarchs were enormous, standing roughly 5 stories tall or larger at maturity. They could produce up to 100 offspring per month, with a maximum capacity of approximately 500 at any given time.
Yellow matriarch attack offspring were significantly smaller, almost the size of a full grown man. True progeny offspring were born as twins, grown in a separate womb-like compartment, away from the minion offspring. Minion offspring were still required for yellow matriarch reproduction, as each of these organisms contained the maternal yellow matriarch’s gametes. Any other fully grown yellow matriarch could devour another yellow matriarch’s offspring to ingest the gametes and fertilize itself for reproduction.
