Tetrashire

A four-legged, four-eyed lizard that lived in the dunes of the Kaktis Desert. Tetrashires had a prominent ridge of bumpy scales that ran down the back of its head. Its head was positioned in the middle of its four equidistant, thick legs. These legs were muscular yet stubby, possessing two toes (not unlike that of an elephant) on each. Tetrashires were covered in a rough leathery skin, coloured either brown, green, or somewhere in between. Adult tetrashires could be up to 6 feet tall.

The most unique physiological feature of the tetrashire was its tongue. The end of the tetrashire’s tongue had two bony spikes in a shape similar to a pickaxe. The tetrashire could launch this tongue out like a frog allowing it to pull apart cacti from a distance, dragging pieces of it into its mouth one by one where its round teeth mashed it into pulp. This long range harvesting of cacti helped tetrashires circumvent the defense mechanisms of accursed cacti.

Tetrashires could lash their tongues around like whips to scare off predators, but didn't usually use the tongue as an actual weapon.
