Spider Bat

A spider bat was an annoying, pesky animal that lived in caves surrounding the base of the Phayu Wing Mountain Range. They took the form of hairy rodents with eight long, arachnidian legs. A membrane of skin stretched between the legs, allowing them to fly and glide.

Spider bats were harmless to health, but deadly for one's aesthetics and beauty. They had a unique diet of keratin, and sought out hairy animals to yank out their hair and eat it. For larger creatures like elgands, the presence of a ravenous spider bat was of little concern. For a human, a very painful awakening in the middle of the night was a common occurrence for those who left their windows open. Particularly hungry spider bats may have swarmed people with long hair, desperately pulling out their hair in a frenzied attack.
