Mylembo
The Cordywoods were home to the mylembo. These fungal-folk were extremely peaceful, and largely oblivious to the happenings on the mainland of Hohm. The mylembo stuck mostly to the Isle of Kel, where they spent their days lounging about their whimsical forest and consuming hallucinogenic moss off of trees and other surfaces.
As their population grew, mylembo spread into the caverns that connected Kel Isle to the subterranean world of Legere, where they established more villages and would eventually find their way to other surface world locations. Mylembo culture also became less and less peaceful the further they were situated from their ancestral homeland.
Appearance #
Mylembo varied widely in their shape, size, and colouration. The most common phenotypes included a mushroom cap-like head; small, beady black eyes; and a toothless mouth paired with friendly chubby cheeks.
Biology #
Mylembo themselves were peculiar looking. Lacking bones entirely, mylembo were comprised solely of a soft chitinous tissue similar to the flesh of a mushroom. Mylembo also lacked blood, and couldn't bleed to death.
Mylembo were extremely challenging to kill. Their breakneck healing speeds meant that fire or similar high-energy delivery was the only way to truly kill one of these hapless mushroom people. Mylembo were also immune to most diseases, and had a lifespan so long that funerary traditions were extremely underbaked. Many suspected mylembo were biologically immortal.
Mylembo flesh was highly magical, allowing mylembo to store data in unique quantum states utilizing archons, giving them each an individual "cloud storage" brain. This was what allowed mylembo to retain their minds even after being cut to pieces and regenerating.
