Ancientglass

Ancientglass, often abbreviated to AG, was the second-most commonly found recreational drug on Legere. It was 100% synthetic, formed from the correct combination of herbal extracts and certain exotic chemical fluids. It was synthesized through baking the ingredients in a very time consuming and specific process.

Ancientglass received its name from its appearance. When first synthesized, Ancientglass looked like a clear, green sheet of glass, which evoked the appearance of the hard light weaponry and technology wielded by the Ancients in the old days. Ancientglass was then shattered into a powder, which was consumed typically by nasal inhalation.

Effect #

The high delivered by Ancientglass increased awareness, sensitivity, and perception while speeding up cognitive processes. As a side effect, the user’s vision was tinged a slight green.

Overdosing #

Overdosing resulted in deterioration of eyesight. Blood vessels in the eye could swell to tremendous size, restricting proper movement and causing immense pain. The vessels could also burst, inducing blindness as the eyeball was damaged.

History #

Ancientglass was originally developed by both Corgathian and Phovezilan apothecaries as a way to enhance the performance of their soldiers. Development was simulataneous in both nations and occurred from pure happenstance. Early trials were successful, and so widescale prescription of the drug was given to branches of their military orders. Both kingdoms were unaware of the rapid development of tolerance, and continued to liberally distribute the drug to soldiers. All at once, massive waves of soldiers began to overdose, and use of the drug was quickly discontinued.

While no longer used in official military operations, the drug persisted in shadier backroom deals. Ancientglass was typically slung around brothels and in shadier lancer establishments. A common business practice was cutting Ancientglass powder with sugar coloured green from tea leaf extract, leading to a less potent high.
