Corkvein

Corkvein was a severe disease that could be found in the more equatorial regions of Legere. Individuals could contract it by having wounds contaminated with the mucus from a Treant.

Corkvein was the disease caused by a magical bacteria that was able to transform organic material of any kind into a woody substance. Infected individuals would have their flesh turn to wood. Being magical, the disease could only be treated with magical herbs and antibiotics.

While dangerous to humans and mammals, the bacteria was important for treants, as it helped repair the wooden “armour” found on the creatures.
