Tempest Inquisition
The Tempest Inquisition was an independent wing of the Legion of Thunder. Members of the Tempest Inquisition were unknown to all, aside from Imperator Hyperius who commanded them directly. They were seen in official settings covered in navy blue silk robes, bearing a golden Thundersteel mask upon their faces. The concealed identity of the inquisitors allowed them to infiltrate any rung of the Legion of Thunder's political ladder and any branch of its armies. Fear of the inquisitors prevented anyone from being able to talk openly about things like rebellion or other treasonous topics; everyone knew the inquisitors existed, but no one knew who they were. ^6f6f2f
Inquisitors would either kill or capture anyone who the imperator deemed a liability to the well-being of the state. While they would occasionally deal with rebel uprisings, targets were typically individuals who were among the ranks of the Legion; most rebellions nurtured by outsiders were dealt with by the Legion's forces. Major targets of the inquisitors were defectors or corrupt officials attempting to sell thundersteel to black markets. ^b6db23
