Ebon Alliance

The Ebon Alliance was a global alliance of Legerian military powers that pledged themselves to evil leading up to the Legerian War. Each of the powers were approached by the Dark Mage Zak and promised significant gains if they chose to join the alliance.

Members & Motives #

Dead Sand Lectors #

While the preliminary desiccation and destruction of Jinifar was a potent influx of lifeforce to sustain the undeath of The Pharaoh, years of being unable to conquer the surrounding regions to acquire new souls put the lich into a desperate mind state. Zak promised to the Pharaoh that with the help of the Ebon Alliance, the souls of the people of not only Destral and Con, but also beyond would be his.

Hiskrall #

The queen of Hiskrall wasn't completely dedicated to serving evil, but instead offered her warriors as mercenaries to the Ebon Alliance as the Legerian War neared. In exchange, Hiskrall would receive materials, supplies, and other things that would greatly benefit the kingdom.

The presence of Hiskrallion armies on the surface would mark one of the rare few times Naga actively engaged in warfare above ground.

Legion of Thunder #

Hyperius' desire had always been set on conquering as much of Legere as he could, although the strengths of Phovezila had prevented the Legion of Thunder from expanding much beyond the Cloudlands. Hyperius' appetite for conquest was whetted after occupying Veskovia following the fall of Talczelava, and so the promise of being able to finally take control of more territories across Hohm made him swiftly offer his armies to the Ebon Alliance.

Order of Darkness #

The Order of Darkness was a knightly order fashioned as an evil mockery of the Righteous Order. It was founded by the Dark Mage Zak himself as the central pillar of the Ebon alliance.

Priests of the Shifting Flesh #

With the Priests of the Shifting Flesh focused on spreading the "gift" of evolution through Somatomancy, Zak was able to use their religious goals as motivation to have them lend their somatomancers to the Ebon Alliance. Zak promised that after the Ebon Alliance had conquered the world, the Priests would be free to propagate their beliefs and their magic unhindered by organizations like the Bureau of Classified Arcana.

With one of Zak's most loyal allies being Ascarin, convincing the Priests to join the alliance was trivial.

Songkram Empire #

While victory may not have been the primary goal of the Spear of the West Campaign, the Songkram Empire quickly found their public perception eroded following their defeat at the hands of Phovezila's elemental warriors. However, with no good and easy target to assault, the empire was forced to stew in their embarrassment for several years.

When Zak spoke with Lord Koh-Ash, he promised the Grand Lord of the Eastern Provinces that the Songkram would receive the respect, glory, and power that they deserved. During the Legerian War, the Songkram would help the Dead Sand Lectors in assaulting Destral in a vicious two-pronged invasion.
