Bloodsports

One of the most popular sports on Legere was, of course, one deeply rooted in the seedy underbelly of nearly every city: bloodsports. Bloodsports weren't always illegal, but they were highly divisive in terms of public opinion. While each arena had different rules, most had little to no regulations to encourage the savagery that the audience paid to see. Gladiatorial combat fascinated many purely because of its absurdity; many of the fighters had outstanding, bombastic characters, and even more wielded bizarre contraptions for weapons, which were often not the most effective but fun for the audience to watch. Many fighters in these arenas were ex-soldiers, mages banished for practicing forbidden arts, mercenaries who enjoyed celebrity status, or slaves forced into combat by masters eager to make money. For example, in many Eastern arenas, there were plenty of Ganpoumi Fi who turned to pit fighting once the Songkram Empire seized power. The biggest arenas were situated in Vulcanis, by The Dancing Dragon Inn, and north of Rice Town.

In blood sports, people die!
