hydrisikk

A massive, subterranean serpent that could be as long as 1 kilometer. They were often worshipped by the naga as demigods.

Hydrisikk were highly intelligent creatures, often accepting sacrifices from the naga in exchange for protecting their underground territories. Hydrisikk had poor vision despite having six eyes, mostly attributed to the fact that they spent their lives beneath the ground. To compensate, hydrisikk had acute senses of smell, allowing them to easily track prey that wandered into their winding tunnels. The backs of hydrisikk were covered in rubbery spines which contract during movement to streamline tunneling. While still, the spines could expand outwards to allow the serpent to sense vibrations beside and above itself. This allowed the Hydrisikk to track and hunt prey both above ground and through cavern walls.

Hydrisikk typically hunted subterranean creatures, but some notable Phovezilan records share details of when these giant serpents exploded from the ground to swallow entire herds of sheep.

Hydrisikk scales were thin, and offered little protection. But a magical force field projected by the serpent allowed it to grow a protective shell made of large shards of rock. As the hydrisikk moved through the earth, it would gain an armour-like coat of stone in an almost magnetic fashion. This rock armour allowed it to move through molten rock for short durations.

Hydrisikk eggs emitted the same magical field that adults did, allowing eggs to develop a powerful rocky exterior that protected it from harm.
